Following a wildly successful launch in our sister Gallery, Jealous North is thrilled to bring the colourful, energetic works by David Shillinglaw to Crouch End in ‘Rewilding’.
During these recent times of isolation, Shillinglaw’s new body of work comments on the adaptability of nature through a series of multi-media works. Unique with their textured surfaces and symbolic illustrations, using shapes and negative space to create a unique language, the works are like a love letter to our new world. The exhibition features a new body of work as well as a limited edition screenprint and zines by the artist.

“In the studio I work on multiple pieces simultaneously. I encourage the works to feed and affect each other, cutting, pasting and grafting material until a natural balance occurs. I consider being in the studio like tending to a visual garden.”

“I find myself searching for the poetry in the incidental, discovering great significance and mystery in a single flower growing out of a brick wall.”

“Often uncertain, I am comforted by the words of Carl Jung, ‘In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order’.”
