MA Royal College An Gee studied printmaking MA at the Royal College of Art, previously completing a BA in Illustration and Animation at Kingston University. Jealous was drawn to her brightly coloured monoprints, composed of awkward and darkly humorous figures depicted in a gestural style with brash, gaudy colour and her paper cut murals which decorated the hoardings of the RCA buildings. The monoprints have since been shown at Flowers gallery as part of the “Artist of the Day” exhibition on Cork Street. The print made at Jealous was created using hand torn paper stencils, which were laid onto the screens in stages, building up patches of colour over An Gee’s first paper stencil, an amorphously symmetrical jellyfish creature. Ann Gee’s Jealous Prize print edition is now held in the Victoria & Albert Museum Permanent Print Collection.
