Keith Haring
Keith Haring is an American artist, his work responded to the New York City street culture of the 1980s. In the early 1980s Haring studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York, during that period he began to make his first important works. Using a distinctive motif of brightly coloured figures, often in the poses of street dance, Haring developed street art into large scale murals and canvasses that were included in the Documenta, Kassel in 1981 and the New York New Wave show at the Tony Shafrazi gallery in the same year. After Haring's untimely death in 1990, tributes to the artist included a dedication from Madonna on her 'Blond Ambition' tour. Haring's work is now internationally collected by both public institutions and private collectors.
